How it works

From first model to handover

How a structural team runs a project in STAAD.Pro.

  1. 01

    Model the structure

Start from the structure wizard, import CAD or DXF, or build wire frames and rendered 3D members. Beams, plates, solids, springs and supports are all native objects.

  2. 02

    Define loads and cases

Apply static, dynamic, wind, seismic, thermal and moving loads with the UBC, IBC and ASME generators, or define them explicitly.

  3. 03

    Analyse and check against code

Run elastic, P-Delta, buckling and dynamic modal analysis. Check members against US, European, Indian, Chinese or Japanese codes.

  4. 04

    Document and hand over

Produce reports from the model, and drawings with Steel Autodrafter or STAAD.Pro Advanced. Pass results to AutoPIPE, RAM Connection or STAAD Foundation Advanced, or out through the OpenSTAAD API.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is STAAD.Pro licensed, and what does the price include?+
The standard option is a 12-month Virtuoso subscription for one named user. The 1-year price is SGD 7,051 and a 3-year subscription is SGD 21,153. Each subscription includes Keys you can redeem for Bentley training or services: 2 with STAAD.Pro and STAAD.Pro Advanced, 3 with Structural WorkSuite. Perpetual licences with a SELECT subscription and Cloud Services Subscription for occasional use are quoted on request.
What is the difference between STAAD.Pro, STAAD.Pro Advanced and Structural WorkSuite?+
STAAD.Pro covers linear, P-Delta, iterative buckling and dynamic analysis with steel design and concrete design checks. STAAD.Pro Advanced adds nonlinear geometric and cable analysis, eigen buckling, floor spectrum analysis, and integrated concrete design with detailing and drawings. Structural WorkSuite bundles STAAD.Pro Advanced with STAAD Foundation Advanced, RAM Structural System, Bentley Analytical Cloud Services and ADINA in one licence.
What do I get from Bimeco that I do not get buying direct?+
The licence itself is identical. Through Bimeco you get an SGD quotation and invoice with payment terms of up to 30 days, licence and first-model setup with your team, support from structural BIM practitioners in Singapore working hours, and SkillsFuture BIM courses through Ace Industrial Academy.
Which design codes and analysis methods does STAAD.Pro support?+
50 steel design codes from around the world plus concrete codes covering US, European, Indian, Chinese and Japanese standards, in current and historical versions. Analysis covers first-order elastic, large and small P-Delta, direct analysis to AISC 360, iterative buckling, and dynamic modal analysis with response spectrum and time history. Eigen buckling and geometric nonlinear analysis need STAAD.Pro Advanced.
Does STAAD.Pro work with Revit, Tekla and my CAD files?+
Yes. iTwin Analytical Synchronizer brings STAAD models into BIM workflows with Revit, Tekla, ProStructures and OpenBuildings Designer. CAD models in DXF files serve as the base wire frame or mesh outline, CIS/2 exchanges data with other steel packages, and ProjectWise manages the models across the project team.
How does STAAD.Pro compare to ETABS?+
STAAD.Pro is a general structural analysis and design application for any structure type, with 50 steel codes, links to Bentley and Autodesk tools, and a quality programme approved for nuclear work. ETABS is CSI's building-focused package. Send us your project mix and we will compare the two against it.
